Privacy Policy
Giambattista Photo
Effective date: July 20, 2026
Giambattista Photo ("Giambattista Photo," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what information we collect through our website and in the course of our photography services, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
1. WHO WE ARE
Giambattista Photo is a photography business based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, you can reach us at giambattista.photo@gmail.com or (416) 809-2769. We are responsible for the personal information under our control, including information handled on our behalf by the service providers described below.
2. WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you give us directly. When you fill out our contact or inquiry form, book a session, or correspond with us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, event or session details (such as date, location, and the type of photography you're interested in), and anything else you choose to include in your message.
Photographs and images. In the course of providing photography services, we create and store images of you and, where applicable, your guests, event, or business. How these images may be used is described in Section 5.
Payment information. If you make a payment, it is processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not collect or store your full credit-card or banking details on our systems.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site collects certain technical information automatically through cookies and analytics tools — for example, your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived at our site. See Section 4 for details.
3. WHY WE COLLECT IT
We collect and use personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate, including to:
- respond to your inquiries and provide quotes, consultations, and bookings;
- plan, deliver, and follow up on our photography services, including delivering your final images;
- process payments and keep business records as required by law;
- operate, maintain, and improve our website; and
- send you information you have asked for, and — only with your consent — occasional marketing or promotional messages, which you can opt out of at any time.
4. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS
Our website is hosted on Wix, which places cookies that are necessary to operate the site and to understand how visitors use it. We also use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to measure site traffic and improve our content. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you view.
Cookies are small files stored on your device. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent; if you do, some parts of the site may not function properly.
You can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS
Photographs we take of you are personal information, and we treat them with care. The specific terms governing how your images may be used — including any use in our portfolio, on our website, or on social media — are set out in the booking agreement and/or model release you sign before your session. We will not use your images in a way that is inconsistent with that agreement.
6. CONSENT
By providing us with your personal information and using our services, you consent to our collecting, using, and disclosing it as described in this policy. In some cases your consent may be implied by your actions — for example, when you send us an inquiry so we can reply. Where the law requires, we will seek your express consent.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us at giambattista.photo@gmail.com. Withdrawing consent may mean we are unable to provide some or all of our services.
7. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our business and only with parties that are required to protect it, including:
- Service providers. Our website host (Wix) and analytics providers (Google), and trusted providers who help us with functions such as processing payments and delivering your photo galleries.
- Legal requirements. Where we are required or permitted by law to disclose information — for example, in response to a valid legal request — or to protect our rights.
8. WHERE YOUR INFORMATION IS STORED
Our website host and some of our service providers store and process data on servers located outside of Canada, including in the United States. This means your personal information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful requests for access by courts and government authorities. We work with providers that offer a comparable level of protection to that required under Canadian privacy law.
9. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law — for example, to complete your project, maintain business and tax records, and preserve your image files for the period set out in your booking agreement. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.
10. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
We use reasonable physical, organizational, and technological safeguards — appropriate to the sensitivity of the information — to protect against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it.
If a privacy breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the appropriate privacy authorities as required by law.
11. YOUR RIGHTS
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used or disclosed;
- request access to that information and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual limits; and
- make a complaint about how we handle your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at giambattista.photo@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
12. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. Where we photograph minors as part of a family, wedding, or event, we do so with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.
13. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
Our website may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of the page, and significant changes will be posted here. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
15. HOW TO CONTACT US
